Inspiring Every Student
To Succeed

We have been providing quality education to the Teesside area for over 30 years

About Us

When Macmillan College opened in 1989 there was a clear brief to the leaders of the school that they were expected to ensure that students who attended must be well prepared for future employment.

It was clear that if that were to happen, students had to achieve well academically and also develop a range of skills and attributes that could only come from getting involved in a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities.

It is important to remember the fantastic range of activities that our students can get involved in.

This can only be made possible by the dedication and willingness of staff at the academy and I am very grateful to them for their continued commitment.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand the application process for secondary school can be a daunting prospect, we try to answer some standard questions below and in our full guide here

  • You must apply on the Common Admissions Form supplied to you by your LEA. The form should be returned directly to the LEA in the pre-paid envelope which came with it or apply online as instructed by the LEA. We recommend that you select 3 different schools as our choices. Do not select the same school 3 times.

  • The academy catchment area map can be found on the 'admissions' section of the 'about us' of this website.

For students living within the inner catchment area, places will be offered on the basis of proximity (within each band/stanine). For students living within the outer catchment area, places will be offered on the basis of a random allocation.

  • Our full admissions policy and detailed map of our catchment area, as well as the details of how to contact us with admission enquiries can be found in the 'admissions' section of our website under 'about us'.
