Macmillan Academy's Year 11 students were celebrating opening their GCSE results this morning. 77% of the students achieved a grade 4 or above in both GCSE maths and English. It is expected that grade 9s will be awarded to approximately only 3-4% of GCSE entries and it was very pleasing to see 71 grade 9s. 25% of entries were at grade 7, 8 or 9, with 12% being 8 or 9.

Principal, Phil Latham said, "I am incredibly proud of all of our Year 11 students. They have faced the uncertainty of the challenging reformed GCSEs with a great deal of determination and I am delighted that their hard work has paid off. There are students who have found the last year very difficult due to personal circumstances, they should be very proud of what they have achieved."
