Macmillan Academy students, along with our French exchange partners from Rambouillet in Paris, visited the pretty location of Saint Cyr in the Loire Valley.

Following a stress free journey down to the Loire Valley, Macmillan Academy students, along with our French exchange partners from Rambouillet in Paris, soon settled into the wonderful accommodation in the pretty location of Saint Cyr in the Loire Valley. The Ethic Etapes Archipel site is truly impressive with its wonderful green spaces, nearby woods and lake as well as incredibly friendly staff.

The fun began immediately as over 60 French and English students got to know one another on their initial joint activity during their first evening together. It was the start of our great 'entente cordiale'!

Day two was even more enjoyable as we all visited the excellent technological park of Futuroscope in Poitiers. Some students and staff had the opportunity to take part in the amazing workshop "Les yeux fermes" giving an understanding of the world of blind people. Many staff and students alike danced with the robots, participated in 4D experiences and generally had a lot of fun together whilst discovering more about future technologies and their importance in our world!

Day three began with a visit to the wonderful Chateau de Couvert and its extraordinary art work which was impressively constructed and described by the artistic owners of the castle.

That afternoon and on day four, further joint workshops continued with included talks on the environment, circus skills and a tranquil bike ride through the beautiful countryside. The students enjoyed the obligatory visit to the local 'centre commerciale'. The last night went out with a bang with a party where all students really enjoyed dancing together.

This very successful, joint visit led by Mrs Watson and Madame Karnaud is the first of its kind but is soon to be repeated as our Parisian partners will visit us to participate in more outdoor, adventurous activities in summer 2019 when they visit the Northeast once again. If you would like to be part of that visit please do contact Mrs Watson as soon as possible!
