Sarah Gething left the academy in 2006 following her A Levels and is now a lecturer at Sunderland College in sport and public services. Sarah was also Miss Teesside 2016 and is a finalist in this year’s Miss Universe Great Britain contest. Sarah is an ambassador for Dove and promotes body confidence and self-esteem.

Evie Burke returned to the Modern Foreign Languages department where she took part in the Experience Day as well as helping out as lower school students enjoy their week of experiences.

Chris Chirnside gave students advice in sessions on Next Steps Day. Chris is a graduate in physics and works in nuclear engineering for Cavendish Nuclear. They are the UK’s leading supplier of specialist services to the nuclear industry, both home and abroad. Chris left the academy in 2011 and went to the University of York to study physics. He graduated in 2015 as a Master of Physics with First Class honours and started with Cavendish Nuclear last September. He is currently on the company’s graduate scheme working in the Science and Hazard Management team. He is involved in most aspects of building nuclear power stations, with Chris's team mainly involved in planning out how to deal with nuclear waste.

Michael Lojko was also on hand to speak to students at Next Steps Day. He is part of our Macmillan alumni 2006 and moved onto to Teesside University to study computer science, graduating 2012. Part of the degree was spending time in industry, which was on Wilton site, Redcar. He currently works as a Game Engine Developer, which he describes as "the best job in the world". He lives in Cambridge and is employed by Jagex Games, where he says he "plays games" for a living.
