On Tuesday 13th June a group of 20 Year 8 students attended the Middlesbrough Schools Cycling event held at the Cycle Circuit at Middlesbrough Sports Village. This event is a 'School Games' competition. The ‘School Games’ is an initiative supported by Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust to provide inclusive competition to all students.

This was the Level 2 (Local) Round in which the top boys' and girls' teams would qualify for the Level 3 (Tees Valley) finals held at the same venue on Wednesday 21st June. As a school we entered 3 boys' teams, an X band team, Y band team and a mixed team. In the girls' competition we entered 2 teams, X band and Y band.

The students all competed in an individual race which was 5 laps for the boys and 4 laps for the girls. Macmillan had a successful time in this race taking the top 5 boys' positions (Dyland Savvery 1st, Cain Clark 2nd and Spencer O’Connor 3rd) and in the girls' we took the top two spots (Bethin Boyle 1st and Claudia Shpata 2nd).
