Macmillan Academy was delighted to be asked to participate in the launch of ‘Love Your Neighbour’ at Teesside University. This is an event which began in Birmingham in the wake of the Brexit vote which in turn led to the city experiencing a surge in hate crime incidents. ‘Love Your Neighbour’ was a huge success in Birmingham and its message of embracing the diversity of our communities and showing kindness to one another has spread throughout the country.
This message has been celebrated at Teesside University by a wide variety of schools and community groups engaged in activities that promote community cohesiveness. Macmillan Academy students brought a variety of contributions including singing, dancing and reading. All students were a huge credit to the Academy and their thought provoking contributions made an impressive impact on the audience.
