Year 11 basked in the sunshine whilst on their Geography field trip to Redcar on Wednesday 21st September.

They investigated the relationship between land use and land value and the methods used to manage and protect the coastline. Redcar has £ 30 million worth of new sea defences and Year 11 walked along all 3km of them. They used a range of field work methods to gather primary data for their Controlled Assessment (coursework) which is worth 25% of their GCSE. This included surveying land use along a transect, bi-polar analysis of management methods, taking photos and traffic surveys.

Mr Cox, Head of Geography, said "Year 11 should be proud of themselves! They were a credit to the academy. The data they collected will form the basis of their investigations which will enable them to produce some top class coursework. The deadline for this work is Monday 7th November 2016. Good luck!"
