This year's CaVEs which took place on the penultimate week of the summer term, offered Year 9 students a fantastic opportunity to develop an area of interest within an intensive week long programme.

This year, 17 CaVEs were offered to students. Of these 15 were offered in previous bookend programmes and 2 new CaVEs for this session.

Students were keen to sign up for the activities, and their enthusiasm did not stop there. All students were allocated one of their choices, which is excellent, given the number of students involved. This meant that no student had to participate in something that was not their choice.

Popular CaVES, as expected, included Motor Vehicle, A Confident New You and Adventure. The two new CaVEs; Architecture and Bespoke Jewellery were also well subscribed. The average size of group was 14, which benefited both the students and the teachers.

Behaviour was excellent throughout the week. Throughout the academy, there was a strong commitment by students and staff, reflecting the enjoyment of the projects.

It was clear to see the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the students and the commitment of the teachers who had obviously prepared well in advance to make each activity special.

At the end of the week, there were food tastings (very popular), theatre performances, music and entertainment, and many displays and presentations where students proudly showed off their work. Some of these were to external visitors that were extremely positive about the outcomes to the projects.

All in all, an excellent week for everyone involved.
