On Thursday June 23rd Macmillan students from Years 7, 8 and 9 took part in the first 'Golden Time' showcase event in the school theatre.

Throughout the year, members of the Athena Programme (formerly the Gifted and Talented list) have been given one morning a week during which they can work on an individual project on any topic of their choice. The Year 7 and 9 groups were supported by 6th form volunteers. Last week, after many months of hard work and planning, students had the chance to display final projects to parents and discuss their ideas and planning processes.

There were a wide range of projects to be enjoyed on the night, including a short film charting the history of Middlesbrough FC (filmed professionally using the green screen in the academy studio), a healthy snacks stall (recipes created and tested out by students), a tourist guide to Middlesbrough in German, and a football magazine designed and created by students and sold on the night (all proceeds going to the charity Soccer Aid).

Many thanks to all parents for supporting the event and congratulations to all students involved for their impressive dedication, creativity and hard work throughout the year.
