Y11 Boccia Young Leaders students recently officiated at a disability sports event all at Billingham Marsh House. 125 young competitors from across the whole of the Tees Valley attended the event, coming from 11 different schools and ranging from Year 2 to Post 16.

Boccia is an attack and defend game, with two sides competing over a set number of ends. The aim is to score as many points as possible by placing their set of coloured balls closest to the white jack ball. It is played as a competitive paralympic sport.

Three of the students have been selected by Boccia England to officiate at the Regional finals in January at Gateshead. They, along with other students are now all qualified as Boccia Young Officials and improved their GCSE practical scores as a result.
