The final Year 8 assembly of the Spring Term took the form of a Hat Show when fifty students displayed their innovative Easter bonnets which were made from recycled materials for an Art and Design project.  The hats were of all shapes, sizes and colours and took the form of cars, ships, fruit baskets, love hearts, flowers and much more and were displayed in various group poses on the catwalk.

In the lead-up to the show, which included a brief history of hats from Head of Year Mr Ball, students also made advertising posters and clay hats which were fired and then painted.  They had previously drawn detailed designs for their Easter Bonnets which are on display in Macmillan Academy reception area.

Everyone, including performers and teachers, enjoyed the assembly and applauded loudly as the top three ‘milliners’ were each awarded a chocolate egg for their efforts by their Art teacher Mrs Ward, who organised the Hat Show.
