If you could make one law, what would it be...?

After last year's success in the Lights, Camera, Parliament competition the Macmillan Academy student council team were keen to submit an entry into the 2015 competition.

Lights, Camera, Parliament! is a chance for young people to get their voices heard and this year's challenge was to create a three minute film telling Parliament about a new law they think should be made and why.

Our students are passionate about tackling the problem of cyber-bullying and feel that the current laws under which perpetrators were charged are far too complex. They decided to put forward the case that there should be one formal law used to charge those who commit the crime of cyber-bullying.

To strengthen their argument the team undertook a number of interviews with Broadcast Journalist Steph McGovern, who has herself been the victim of cyber bullying, author and university lecturer Professor Peter Smith from the Psychology Department, University of London and finally Professor Helen Fenwick from Durham Law School.

You can view their film here and comment below to share what you think. You can also see this and the other entries on the Lights, Camera, Parliament website where you can 'like' our entry.

Best of luck!
