Over the half term break, a group of 42 students from Macmillan Academy travelled for 29 hours by coach from Middlesbrough to the ski resort of Saalbach in the heart of the Austrian Alps.

Contrary to reports that there had not been much snow in some ski areas this winter, the slopes in Saalbach provided excellent sport for the Macmillan party.  Every student had five hours of first-rate ski instruction every day which helped them to make rapid progress, particularly as they grew in confidence.

The evening entertainment was also up to expectation and included bowling, ice-skating, swimming and a visit to a music festival.

Everyone agreed that good food, challenging sport, great scenery and fine weather all contributed to a super break.
