Staff and students at Macmillan Academy are celebrating another set of excellent Post 16 results.

The overall pass rate was 98% with almost 40% of all qualifications graded at A*-A. These results are a reflection of the hard work of students and dedication of Post 16 teaching and support staff at the Academy.

Once again many students have been successful in reaching their first choice destinations. Students are going to universities far and wide, from the local universities of Teesside, Newcastle and Durham to those further afield such as Westminster, Loughborough and University College London. Equally, students have opted to study a real range of courses including: zoology, quantity surveying and radiotherapy and oncology as well as the more traditional subjects. Alongside those students going to university, it is pleasing that in such a competitive labour market, several students have gained employment and apprenticeships.

Whilst the Academy is proud of the achievements of all students, there were some exceptional individual results. Ben Sillence gained 4A*s in chemistry, mathematics, further mathematics and physics. He is now going to study mathematics at the University of Cambridge. Hamza Askari gained A* grades in chemistry and physics and an A grade in mathematics. He will study physics at the Univeristy of Manchester. Duncan Alexander will also be going to the University of Manchester. He will be studying medicine after gaining 4 A grades. Nelema Uddin will also study medicine; she will be studying at the University of Leeds. Furthermore, the following achieved A* or A grades in at least 3 subjects: Ben Hastings, Alex Fishlock, Rob Turley, James Robinson, Shakil Rehman, Sophie Wales, Emily Allan and Neleema Uddin.

Students following vocational courses also achieved impressive results with the following gaining exceptionally high grades in their chosen courses: Piotr Banaszek, Sabaa Ahmad, Imogen Varley, Jack Bashford, Hannah Crackell, Rachel Cutler, Aleena Hussain, Dhaneesh Hameed, Adal Khaliq, Serish Manzoor, Ashaan Ayoub, Neelam Hussain, Eva Farooq and Ibrar Hussain.
