We are delighted that our recent entry into the 2014 Lights, Camera, Parliament competition has been chosen as the runner up in the secondary film category, in a year the competition received over 200 entries.

Our student council production team had the opportunity to respond to the following question; if you had the chance to make a brand new law, what would it be? This project is a great way for young people to get their voices heard and tell Parliament what new law they think should be made and why? The law could be about anything, from making bike helmets compulsory for all cyclists to lowering the voting age to 16, the main thing is that the law is something young people feel passionate about and want to share.

As you can see in the attached clip, the team decided to put forward the case that we should raise the age of criminal responsibility; what do you think?

The students involved with the making of the film will receive a plaque and individual certificates commemorating their success, which will be presented by local MP, Andy McDonald when he visits the academy in the near future,
