Our annual Awards Evening was held on Tuesday 10th December in Middlesbrough Town Hall. It was a very special occasion in which we celebrated our students' many successes over the past academic year.

We were delighted to welcome Mr Mark Gallilee who was a Macmillan Academy student from 1992-1999. Mark pursued a career in Engineering on leaving the academy. He spent a 'year in industry' with Black & Decker before graduating with a first class degree from Durham.

Since late 2010 Mark has been working directly for CERN in Switzerland leading a team responsible for part of the Large Hadron Collider which enabled the discovery of the 'Higgs Boson' particle.

With a blend of live entertainment and videos showing a range of experiences, along with the presentation of awards, the event showcased some of our most talented individuals and rewarded the efforts and achievements of a large number of students from Year 7 to Year 13.

Well done to all the students and thank you to our guests and all the staff involved in planning and running this successful and memorable event.
