Staff and students at Macmillan Academy are celebrating another set of excellent Post 16 results.

The overall pass rate was 99%, with 40% of all qualifications graded at A*-A. These results are a reflection of the hard work of students and dedication of Post 16 teaching and support staff at the Academy.

Once again many students have been successful in reaching their first choice destinations. Students are going to universities far and wide, from the local universities of Teesside, Newcastle and Durham to those further afield such as Greenwich, Royal Holloway, Nottingham and Lancaster. Equally, students have opted to study a real range of courses including: Chinese studies, outdoor leadership and interior design as well as the more traditional subjects. Alongside those students going to university, it is pleasing that in such a competitive labour market, several students have gained employment and apprenticeships.

Whilst the Academy is proud of the achievements of all students, there were some exceptional individual results. Elliot Lam gained an A* in PE and Sport and 3 As in Biology, Mathematics and Physics. He is now going to study Sport and Exercise Science at Loughborough. Ellie Lockington achieved A*s in both Fine Art and Textiles. She is going to study Fine Art at Teesside. Zaneb Alzaidawi will be studying Medicine at Liverpool and Ruth Walker will be studying Medicine at Birmingham. Furthermore the following achieved A* or A grades in at least 3 subjects: Hayley Wanless, Jack Martin, Zainab Akhter, Anthony Graves, Atia Mahmood, Samuel Raynes, Sidrha Mahmood, Adil Minhas and Ruth Walker.

Students following vocational courses also achieved impressive results with the following gaining exceptionally high grades in their chosen courses: Lewis Billon, Yasmon Hussain, Alice Crone, Maariyah Iqbal, Aysha Mustafa, Sophia Khan, James Youll, Ruby Dawson, Jennifer Salmon and Natalie Sullivan.
