Following a recent inspection, Ofsted have given our Academy a grading of ‘good’ and we were praised for providing an education which is ‘motivational, meaningful and memorable’.

Following an inspection on 22-23 May, Ofsted have given our Academy a grading of 'good' and we were praised for providing an education which the inspectors described as 'motivational, meaningful and memorable'. The report found students behaving 'very well and showing a keen interest in their work'.

We are very proud that our students were described as, 'polite, courteous and showing respect to each other'. Ofsted found teaching in the Academy to be good with some outstanding practice and particularly praised the Post 16 provision and the Academy's "excellent record of ensuring that when students leave, their next steps, either in employment or in Higher Education are secure".

The quality of the curriculum was described as a "major strength" of the Academy which contributed towards both academic success and personal development. Inspectors praised the "many innovative and successful aspects" of the curriculum, including "the focus on outdoor learning, the development of skills through 'Mindset' lessons, the exceptionally wide enrichment programme and the tutorial programme among others".

Principal Phil Latham said: "With inspection criteria becoming increasingly rigorous, and a perpetual drive for schools to reach ever higher standards, we are pleased with the overall grading of 'good' and with the key findings of the report. We feel it is an accurate judgement and we are determined in continuing to drive forward the improvements we need to make to achieve the 'outstanding' grade again next time. The inspectors were particularly positive about the students and I totally agree with Ofsted's description of them as 'a credit to the Academy'. Staff and governors at the Academy are incredibly committed to our students and I was delighted that the pride and enthusiasm of staff was highlighted by inspectors."
