During the bank holiday weekend in May, a group of Macmillan Academy students and staff undertook the annual 140 mile coast to coast charity bike ride. This year the money raised will be going to the Neonatal unit at James Cook Hospital.

The gruelling route, which starts in Workington and ends in Sunderland, passes some of England's best scenery and biggest climbs! The students were more than up to the challenge and every one of them completed the whole route, which is a real achievement.

The students as a group covered 1260 miles without a single puncture and the their good luck remained until the end, with the sun coming out to greet them as they entered Sunderland to finish what was an enjoyable weekend for all involved.

A big thanks to all the students involved!
