Recently nine Macmillan Academy students completed the standard level of the Student Librarian Award Scheme and five students completed the advanced level. On Wednesday 24th April, these students with their parents attended an Awards Ceremony at Yarm School. In addition, one student received a Special Recognition Award. All students were presented with their certificates by the popular novelist and screen writer Andy Briggs.

The Student Librarian Scheme requires students to volunteer to work in the Library during their morning or lunch time breaks. They are required to complete a set of worksheets and produce various guides as evidence of the knowledge they have gained. In addition to library skills, students also gain valuable communication, customer care, team-work and information literacy skills. All our students produced work of a very high standard and are a credit to themselves in the commitment they have shown.
