On Tuesday 19th March, Year 12 undertook a fieldwork experience looking at the £75 million regeneration of the coastal sea defences at Redcar. They investigated whether Redcar followed the trends of a typical seaside resort which was in decline. During the day, they conducted coastal protection evaluations, environmental quality assessments, questionnaires, pedestrian counts and also land-use surveys.

The day also provided an insight into many geography-based careers, ranging from coastal management, working with renewable resources, regeneration and the rebranding of areas and many more different types of employment. The students were excellent and gained some valuable experience and skills from the excursion.
