On Friday February 8th Macmillan students in both Y9 and Y7 enjoyed a visit from the children's author and illustrator, Liz Million. The students are engaged in a project to write a story for primary school children and the workshop was aimed at inspiring them to create their own characters and story plot. Liz Million, who confessed her need to write and draw from an early age; was soon at work with pens on the flip chart magically creating characters from a basic shape.

The students then went on to create their own characters, learning how to change facial expression and action to ensure their character brought the story to life. The session culminated in the students creating a storyboard involving the characters they had created. Students are going to use their ideas to complete the writing project during literacy lessons.
