On Thursday 10th May 49 French students and 5 staff from College Catherine de Vivonne, Rambouillet near Paris, spent the day with us to discover more about life in an English school.

Although a typical rainy day in England there were plenty of smiles and fun to keep everyone going throughout the day.

Our French visitors arrived period 1 and were greeted by the MFL department and Mr Jordan who got a chance to practise his French! The students then spent the day sampling various lessons they would not normally get the chance to do in their own school.

These included making shortbread in Food Technology with Mrs Lloyd ( which they thoroughly enjoyed later on in the day), enacting mini dramas with Miss Slee and her team, playing SPLAT in Maths with the enthusiastic Mr Syed and discovering more about our Jubilee year using the new I pads in the library with Miss Burns. They also had a fabulous lunch and more biscuits at break time courtesy of Mrs Bolko and her fantastic team.

It was a superb day which cemented our friendship further as the students in Year 11 who had previously visited Paris in September 2011 were able to meet up with old friends and catch up in both English and French. The French students themselves behaved impeccably throughout the day and it was a real pleasure to see them and their staff again.

The links with Rambouillet still continue with classes lower down the school through letters and Skype and we are very proud to have such a strong link with France!!

Thanks to Mrs Watson for all her help in organising the day and maintaining our links!
