On the evening of Thursday 26th April students from Macmillan Academy attended an Awards Ceremony at The King's Academy. The students were awarded certificates to celebrate their completion of the Student Librarian Training Scheme.

Eight students completed the standard level and two students completed the advanced level. The successful students were presented with their certificates by the "2Steves" - Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore. The "2Steves" are a popular comedy double act and have written over 130 children's books.

The Student Librarian Scheme requires students to volunteer to work in the Library during their morning or lunch time breaks. They are also required to complete a set of worksheets and produce various guides as evidence of the knowledge they have gained. In addition to library skills, students also gain valuable communication, customer care, team work and information literacy skills. All our students produced work of a very high standard and have been a credit to themselves in the commitment they have shown.
