On Tuesday 17th April, twenty-six hockey enthusiasts from our Academy attended the NPower BIG Dribble Hockey Roadshow in Middlesbrough.

The hockey roadshow was a nationwide event promoting the sport in the run up to the Olympics. The roadshow and giant hockey ball rolled into Middlesbrough on Tuesday morning on its tour of the country.

The Macmillan Academy students were able to write good luck messages on the giant inflatable ball for team GB's hockey team ahead of the Olympics. They were then able to take part in a 100 metre dribble around a course made up of cones, hoops and small hurdles.

After a couple of trial runs our enthusiastic students gained in confidence and whizzed around the course time and time again -leaving a trail of upturned cones behind them!

Despite very cold conditions, the students enjoyed the event very much and were delighted to recieve a certificate for taking part and England Hockey wrist bands and transfers. Most importantly, the Macmillan students got the opportunity to take part in a Nationwide record attempt to dribble a hockey ball 2012 kms!
