Macmillan Academy students have contributed to a new book which was launched this month which celebrates life along the North East Coastline.

Macmillan Academy students have contributed to a unique and beautiful new book which was launched on 12th March 2012. The book, 'a year in the life our north east coast by the people who live here' is the outcome of a year-long initiative, 'Sea Change NE', led by Newcastle University.

On 12th 14 March students and staff from the Academy attended the launch, which was held at the Curtis Auditorium in Newcastle. The fabulous images used in the new book were the end result of a Sustainability enrichment which ran from September to November last year.

Macmillan Academy was given the month of November on which to lead to capture images which represent life along our local river and nearby coastline. We have several photographs featured along with a couple of pieces of poetry which were written by students in another Macmillan enrichment, run by the English department.

The book will be on display in the library and is available to buy from the shops. For further information see Mr McCallum or Mrs Campbell, the lead teachers on this project.

Below are a series of images from the launch day and the pictures taken by our Students which were selected for the book
