New and exciting displays have been unveiled in the Science Building, transforming corridors into stimulating learning zones for students.

Over the last few years Macmillan Academy has been working hard to create visual and stimulating displays and signage in its recreational and corridor spaces.

The idea has developed and evolved from the point when we turned into an Academy back in 2009, as part of the conversion we underwent a major rebrand and introduced photo boards into these spaces.

Staff and students saw the potential in using both visual and learning resources outside the classroom and over the past few years have created a path which now allows Macmillan to conceptualise. design and produce all its own resources.

The advantage of such an approach is not only that it is far more cost effective but we can adapt, change and update the material far more easily. This now includes our own photo boards, large cut shape designs and bespoke wallpapers.

Mrs Hart (Head of Biology) is delighted with the results, explaining that, "The displays provide a unique scientific resource which is stimulating, engaging and informative. They create an atmosphere of enquiry in which the students begin learning long before they step into the classroom. The mix of topics fit into the curriculum throughout the year and they can be used to enhance lessons of all key stages or used as a homework resource."
