Author of 'Just a Boy', Richard McCann visited the Academy recently to share some inspirational words with Year 11 students.

Richard spoke to the whole year group and told them the story of how his mother was a victim of the Yorkshire Ripper and how this tragedy resulted in years of pain and suffering until he decided to change his life forever by adopting the iCan attitude. He shared the highs and lows of his life to date with students and staff and his inspirational message certainly left students believing that they can achieve anything with self belief and confidence in their own ability.

After listening to Richard's presentation, many students felt inspired and motivated to adopt a similar 'I can' attitude specifically with regards to looming exams and controlled assessments.
