On 21 September, the Post 16 team alongside Robert Ellis and his parents attended a Passport Pride ceremony at the University of Teesside.

Passport aims to encourage students' to progress from further education to higher education and the ceremony was to celebrate the achievements of students and institutions involved in the University's scheme.

Macmillan Academy was again triumphant at the awards ceremony as Robert from 13 MST was awarded a Passport Pride Award for his hard-work and effort within his Post 16 studies and his commitment to embarking upon a career within the police force.

Mr Spence from the Business Studies Department nominated Robert for the award and said, "Robert has a real passion for his chosen career and has left no stone unturned in terms of research into the progression route for a career in the police." Mr Spence also commented on how reliable Robert has been as a Post 16 student, "Robert can always be relied upon to help out in any activities designed to enrich the experience of the students at the Academy. He helped to support Year 9 in their Enterprise activity week and helps out regularly at Open Days as a student ambassador."

Robert's award was sponsored by Cleveland Police and was presented by Chief Superintendent Adrian Roberts who is Head of Specialist Operations and Communications. Chief Superintendent Roberts was very impressed with Robert's achievements and wished him well in his efforts in joining the Police Force.
