The annual Macmillan Academy Awards Ceremony took place this year on the evening of Tuesday 12 December in the magnificent setting of Middlesbrough Town Hall.

Students, staff, governors, sponsors and parents arrived to be greeted with seasonal music performed by the Academy’s Concert Band.

This year’s Guest of Honour was Dr Christopher Dawson, a former Macmillan student who now works as an anaesthetist at three of the region’s hospitals. This was the first time that a former student had been present in this capacity. Before an audience of over a thousand people, he presented books to some 230 students and spoke afterwards of what Macmillan Academy meant to him, especially with regard to the interpersonal skills he developed here and the capacity he now has for managing change. Among his fondest memories, he recalled, were of his time spent at Outward Bound Ullswater and of the excellent guidance and advice with which Macmillan always provided him.

During the evening, which was compered by Miss Daffurn, the Principal, Mr Ken Fraser outlined and applauded the many achievements of the Academy during the academic year 2005-06.

The studio helped to produce videos which further outlined Macmillan Academy's success throughout the 2005-2006 academy year. These productions are available to view below.
