This November students in key stage 3 were asked to take part in the first ICT E- card competition.

The result of this was for students to create an E card or (electronic card) using any suitable software package such as Flash, Word or PowerPoint. This was to support the sustainability issue, no printouts were required.

The card could be about any seasonal event such as Eid or Christmas. Students produced the cards in their own time and the head of ICT Miss Benvin went into key stage 3 assemblies to introduce the competition.

On the first week in December the competition closed and the entrant’s cards were placed on the internet and an online voting system was set up.  Students were encouraged to vote on the card they thought was the best. We had an overwhelming response with over 700 votes being counted and very positive comments from outside the school (a private school teacher from America was impressed by the skills of our students).

The final winners were:

1. Ryan Galliford Year 8 ACH – 35% of the votes (Wins an MP3 player)
2. Lydia Garbutt year 8 PSY – 29% of the votes (Wins a £10 gift voucher)
3. E Halls Year 8 JBE – 10% of the votes (Wins a £5 gift voucher)

It is hoped that any future competition will be successful as this one. Well done to all entrants, the standard of work was excellent!
