Over the May bank holiday students and staff completed what is now the annual coast to coast cycle ride. This year the chosen charity was the Great North Air Ambulance.

On Friday morning, all the bikes were packed onto the trailer for the journey to Workington in Cumbria. The group arrived in Keswick in time for tea having covered thirty miles.

Saturday started bright but windy which made for a difficult climb up Hartside. All the students completing the ride took this in their stride and arrived at the youth hostel in Alston for a well earned rest that evening. Sunday was the longest and hardest day with four big climbs over sixty miles.

A tired but happy group finally arrived in Sunderland late on the afternoon safe in the knowledge that they completed a very hard weekend's cycling for a very worthwhile cause
