Last weekend 45 Year 7 students visited the Kingswood outdoor activity centre in West Yorkshire. One of the centre’s mottos is 'Unforgettable experiences and life-changing moments’; our students certainly felt the trip lived up to its motto.

Our students took part in a range of activities which aimed to build transferable skills which will further help young people develop as they grow and learn.

Accompanied by 4 staff from the PE department the 3-day residential was a great success. Mr Coates, Head of PE said, ‘The students were an absolute credit to both themselves and the academy; it was a pleasure to see them having so much fun and learning at the same time’. Miss Parkinson also commented on how the students showed courage as they pushed themselves outside their own comfort zones and worked hard to help each other displaying great communication and teamwork.

It is a real pleasure to see activities like this back on the academy calendar and we are extremely hopeful more students will have the opportunity to visit centres just like this in coming months.
