Paul Cookson, the performance poet visited the academy on Tuesday December 14th and shared his enthusiasm and passion for poetry with the Year 7s. He began the day with a performance to the whole year group in the theatre. With his hilarious renditions of his own poems he proved that poetry needn't be serious, boring or "all about flowers, trees and things" but could be really funny,down-to-earth and about real life. He also played a mean rock ukulele, which hadthe students head banging and air-guitaring in an outbreak of audience participation.

During the day he delivered workshops in the Library on writing poetry where you can get your inspiration fromand how to turn it into words with rhythm and rhyme. He used ideas generated by the students to create a class poem.
