On Wednesday 24th, Mr Ray Mallon, Mayor of Middlesbrough attended the assembly with other council representatives and the Year 9 students.

The mix of Y8 and Y9 students performed to a backdrop of images of unsustainable living; wasting water, wasting paper, over use and abuse of the earths resources, with music to accompany the mood.

Ten principles of sustainable living are the key elements to One Planet Living, which is a policy that the Council are encouraging the people of Middlesbrough to adopt.

Following the final act, the Mayor spoke to the assembly as to how he felt the youth of today are the future of the town and ultimately the planet.

Mr Mallon gave afinal thank you to all staff and students involved in the production and said he was delighted that, yet again, Macmillan Academy and its students were leading the way and supporting a town wide consultation which will have a massive impact on the lives of local people.
