Macmillan Academy staff and students celebrated sporting achievement in our first ever Sports Awards Evening, click for a report and images from the event.

On Friday 22nd October a very special Awards Evening took place recognition of those students that have represented the Academy in competitive sport. The PE and Studio staff had worked hard to ensure that the evening was a huge success and was enjoyed by the two hundred and forty students who attended.

The evening provided an opportunity to showcase the many successes and sporting achievements of the past year and also served to motivate and inspire students. The guest speaker for the evening was former gold medallist in gymnastics, Mr Craig Heap. The evening culminated with the presentation of the Academy's Sports personality of the Year. Winners were Jack Willis (KS3), Holly Fielding (KS4) and Becki Boyle(KS5)with Becki as the overall winner. As part of this award, Becki will spend a day with a former student, Miss Kay Murray, who works as a sports presenter for Real Madrid TV. Kay, in fact announced the winners of this award live via a satellite link from Madrid on the evening.
