On Friday 18th June a group of enthusiastic Year 8 students took up the opportunity with Mrs Fawcett and Mrs Campbell to improve the wildlife habitats in the eco garden.

Megan Taylor and Natalie Bourne enjoyed helping to plant a wildflower border, incorporating species to encourage bees and butterflies into the garden. Tom Kavanagh and Daniel Ben Tiba constructed a 'bug hotel' from recycled materials including old pots, wood, bamboo canes and plastic trays which aims to encourage a greater biodiversity of insects and other small creatures into the area.

If successfully inhabited this should provide a greater variety of food for the different bird species that now visit the garden and it will help to increase the complexity of food webs in this developing space.
