Six members of staff took part in the Race for Life event at Ormesby Hall on 19 June, raising over £800 in aid of cancer research.

Six members of staff took part in the Race for Life event at Ormesby Hall on 19 June. A wet, cold and windy day did nothing to dampen the spirits of Miss King and Mrs Alderson, Mrs Stanton, Mrs Meek, Mrs Wood and Mrs McVeigh!

The ladies all enjoyed a warm up session with TFM radio and an aerobic work out which was completed with gusto! Mrs McVeigh, participating in the event for the first time, found it a fun yet moving experience. She said, "There was a brilliant atmosphere and some very poignant and emotional messages were seen, such as one simply stating 'I Race for Life… for my beautiful mum', whilst others showed photos and dedications to family members, both present and departed."

All types of outfits in varies hues of pink were to be seen with the Macmillan Academy ladies having opted for fluorescent pink tutus and a variety of head-dresses, including tiaras, caps and head bands. It was great to see some Macmillan students taking part too!

It is hoped that the two events held in Middlesbrough will raise £184,000 for Cancer Research UK and it is anticipated that the Macmillan Ladies will have raised in excess of £800.
