Friday 14th May was the night for the much anticipated Year 11 Leavers' Ball. This is the biggest social event in the Academy year and a very special celebration for the students who are about to come to the end of five happy years at Macmillan Academy.
This year's event had an 'ice palace' theme and the dining room had been transformed into a fabulous party venue with its own large dance floor. Students enjoyed a meal with and watched the hilarious video, 'Prancing on Ice' starring and produced by all the Year 11 tutors!
There were impressive vocal performances by Maria Truffino, Natasha Connor and Maegan Bevington and in addition 'DJ Paul' was on the decks ensuring that the ambience and great music had everyone up on the dance floor, partying until late.
As usual students arrived in style and had really taken time and effort to make sure they looked their best. Many staff had come just to watch the students arrive and see them in all their finery and were impressed by how stunning many of them looked! Prom King and Queen, as voted by the students were Patrick O'Rourke and Rachel Drury.
The event was a great success! It was a fitting way to celebrate five years at the Academy and it was great to see how much they all enjoyed the evening.
