Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the staff and students at Macmillan Academy

This year we have selected a piece of artwork produced by a Year 13 student Grace Coverdale to produce the academy Christmas card.

Grace has a real passion for the arts and longer term would like to follow a career in Architecture. Grace achieved an A* Grade for her A level art, craft and design personal project. It's with excitement we can share with you just some of her work in the form of this year's card.

The inspiration for this year's card comes from a beautiful plant, the poinsettia. This plant is a popular gift to give at Christmas. In some cultures, the plant represents the Star of Bethlehem, due to its star shape. They’re called the La Flor de la Nochebuena that translates to the Flower of the Holy Night, referring to Christmas Eve.
