Monday 2nd November saw Year 8 students participate in a Design Technology day to help launch the new Key Stage 3 Baccalaureate programme.

The aim was to produce a model stadium fit for the 2012 Olympics considering many aspects of construction, including; location, materials, environment, economy, employment, energy and sustainability.

All students worked extremely hard throughout the day and combined a variety of skills and knowledge in true collaboration to produce a product outcome.

Cross-curricular themes were also evident throughout from economic considerations of costs and income to calculations of dimensions and purchasing, through to a range of practical hand skills culminating in a verbal presentation to an audience.

Each tutor group elected a class winner to enter the grand finale, judged by Head of Year 8, Miss Gill and other senior staff. The overall winner was 8DAR with team 'TEA BAG' being judged the most effective model and confident presentation. Well done to Year 8 for an outstanding performance throughout the day.
