Just after 11.00 o'clock on Wednesday 11th November, the Academy observed a one minute silence to mark the Remembrance Day for 2009. Normal activities across the campus stopped for 10 minutes as all students and staff watched a televised broadcast prepared by the Academy Studio.

The focus for the broadcast was on the last three veterans from World War 1 including Harry Patch who died in July this year. The significance of the poppy as the symbol of remembrance was also featured. Students from both Year 11 and Year 8 contributed to the broadcast which is now available from the web site.
