In the May bank holiday, staff and students embarked on the annual Coast 2 Coast cycling expedition, and raised £1,783 for charity in the process.

In the May bank holiday, a group of 16 staff and Post- 16 students embarked on the annual 'Coast 2 Coast' cycling expedition, lead by Mr Mike Cole, a veteran of seven such expeditions.

The sponsorship money has now all been collected, and the money donated to the NSPCC.

The challenge involved staff and students travelling to Workington by mini bus where they started the gruelling 134 mile ride which ended at the marina in Sunderland on Sunday evening. The group had two overnight stops in Keswick and Alston.

Prior to the expedition the team had taken part in a training session at Grisedale Forest in the Lake District followed by a local ride to reinforce road safety awareness. The students had also been attending training sessions in the gym with Mr Cole to prepare for the challenge ahead.

Well done to all those who participated and thank you to those who sponsored them and helped raise such an impressive amount for the NSPCC.
