It’s that time of year again when brave students and staff from the Academy face the cold waters of the North Sea in pursuit of the perfect wave. A group of students who have obtained places in the very popular surfing enrichment will be taking to the waves every Tuesday for the next 5 weeks. Also this year, staff have had the opportunity to learn how to surf with the North East’s Premiere surf school.

Whilst the enrichment is open to all years, it is mainly students from Years 8 and 9 who have taken up the challenge of learning to surf. On their first session, several individuals showed great promise and managed to get to their feet.

The staff shared equal amounts of success and fortunately, for their session, Saltburn was blessed with glorious sunshine and perfect waves, so it is no wonder that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  All involved are really looking forward to their next opportunity to go surfing.
