We are pleased to announce that the Academy now has two operational wind turbines. Because of their position, they are a new landmark for all drivers coming into Middlesbrough on the A66.

Their location, on the edge of our sports field was selected after it was identified as the best site to capture any wind in the area.

The two turbines each have a 6 Kilowatt capacity and are 15 metres in height. Since their installation just over a month ago, the turbines have generated an impressive 1,000 kilowatt hours of energy and reduced the Academy's CO2 emissions by over 600kg.

The energy generated so far is equivalent to the needs of an average 3-bedroomed household for 3 months. It is therefore possible that the turbines will generate enough energy each year to power at least 3 average houses.
