We were pleased to host a very successful Citizenship Ceremony on Thursday 12th February in the academy's new theatre. A total of 44 new British citizens took the oath of allegiance to the Queen and pledged to respect Britain's freedoms in front of a sizeable audience. The Vice Chairman of Middlesbrough Council, Councillor Ron Lowes, was impressed and paid particular thanks to our students who looked after him on arrival.

Key stage 4 'Lifeskills' students helped out as ushers and multicultural entertainment was provided by the academy’s concert band and with number of excellent solo performances, including Irish dancing by Rachel Drury, singing from Marianna Trunfio and Holly Shahverdi and Indian drumming from Zeeshan Uddin.

The Superintendent Registrar described it as "the best event he had attended" and Deputy Principal, Mr Mccallum, praised the “great team effort” involved. The evening went without a hitch and everyone managed to get here despite the heavy snow. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed the refreshments which were provided by our catering team in the Post 16 café.
