Four of our Year 12 students have succeeded in obtaining bursaries from the Nuffield Foundation, a charitable trust that supports different areas of research and development. The successful applicants have the opportunity to spend 4-6 weeks working in a science based company working on mainly field based projects.

The students completed some excellent projects and posters which they were able to discuss confidently with the judges. Victoria Bello focused on the theme of 'nature' and worked with Stewart's Park, Christopher Doyle based his entry around a 'text to speech communicator' and was supported by South Tees Health Trust, Hardeep Sandhu worked with Davy process technology on the theme of 'industrial chemistry', and Sanjay Lal worked on the development of robotic lips with the University of Durham.

The celebration event was held at the University of Teesside on Monday 10th November and was enjoyed by all the students who attended. At the end of the year all the students are invited to a poster session where some of the students will present their project. Most are then entered for the CREST Awards (Creativity in Engineering, Science and Technology). Many of our past students have found doing a placement or having a CREST award especially useful when going for interviews at universities.
