On 17th October, the A2 Religious Studies students went to Newcastle for a one-day intensive 6th form conference on the Philosophy of Religion. The key speakers were Dr Peter Vardy, an internationally recognised academic and Julie Arliss, an experienced lecturer from taunton, who was a leading contributor to the Channel 4 series on 'Evil'.

The conference was very well-attended, with just under 500 students from the North-east hearing lectures on a wide range of topics, including: 'The Problem of Evil', 'Religious Language', 'The Ontological Argument' and 'Body and Soul- Life after Death'.

It proved to be invaluable as a revison aid but also in stretching students with new insights that enable higher grades to be achived. Students' feedback was very positive and they particularly enjoyed having the opportunity to hear Peter Vardy speak as they had read about him previously during their studies with class teacher, Miss Brickley.
