Staff and students at the Academy were delighted to be awarded 1st place in their group at the Middlesbrough Community Awards held at the Chinese Community Centre on 25th September.

The award was given for the work that has been done at the Academy in promoting Fairtrade.  Other organisations competing for this award included ‘Larchfield Community’ and ‘Wholly Organic’ but Macmillan came 1st because of the way Fairtrade has become a whole-school theme, and because of the number of events and promotions we have organised and products we have endorsed.

Ruth Walker (Y9) and Andrew Middleton (Y8) collected the award and a £100 voucher which will be used to help fund further Fairtrade initiatives in the future.
