This year Macmillan Academy ran its first ever Gifted and Talented Summer School for Year 10 students.



This year Macmillan Academy ran its first ever Gifted and Talented Summer School for Year 10 students. 17 students attended the week long course during the summer break designed to expand their horizons.

The course was designed to develop students’ skills to prepare them for attending leading universities and choosing entry in to challenging careers. They took part in a range of activities including the high ropes course, a low ropes obstacle course, a cultural visit to Edinburgh, a stock market challenge, a medicine taster session and a Dragon’s Den challenge day.

The Summer School ended with a celebratory meal at Judges Hotel in Yarm. The students involved were an absolute credit to the Academy and took part wholeheartedly in every activity and challenge that they were set producing work of an extremely high quality throughout. All of the students involved found it an extremely challenging and enjoyable week.
